PROCESS ADVISORS

Discrimination and harassment investigations and adjudications are long and complicated processes that are often overwhelming and confusing to students. In order to ensure a fundamentally fair process, educational institutions may find it necessary to provide process advisors to the parties. This is particularly true in Title IX proceedings at post-secondary institutions, where parties must be provided an opportunity for advisors to conduct live cross-examination. However, providing process advisors to students in any investigative procedure can help to mitigate the stress and anxiety of these processes and ensure the student maintains access to their educational opportunities.  At ILG’s Education Division, we have substantial experience in these processes and can help to make navigating them easier for students so they can focus on their education. Whether students need support from the beginning of the process, or just someone to conduct cross-examination at their hearing, our process advisors are here to help.

I’m probably stupid on this point but isn’t this the only context where there are advisors?  I’ve never been involved in a K-12 case that had this.  Just checking to make sure this applies.
