We are personally very sad at the passing of Southwest Airline’s beloved CEO Herb Kelleher this past week. Not only are we enthusiastic customers of the airline he built and infused with personality, great customer service and his own unique egalitarian ethos, but we are huge fans of the great role model for leadership he embodied. How many other CEOs can you name who routinely sent cards and notes to employees on birthdays and marriages, encouraged employees to crack jokes and incorporate games into their work, or who got out on the tarmac to unload bags from planes? All while killing the competition in very challenging times for his industry. Herb showed us how it could and should be done. Rest In Peace. Read more here.
