Brian’s diverse legal and investigative experience fully prepares him to lead ILG’s most challenging and sensitive investigations. Early in his career, Brian served as a criminal prosecutor in Central Minnesota, as well as successfully defended commercial litigation matters involving sexual harassment, hostile work environment, discrimination, and wrongful discharge claims. Later, while a partner of two Minneapolis law firms, he investigated the misconduct of countless domestic and international corporations, ultimately helping plaintiffs recover billions of dollars in some of the world’s largest and most complex antitrust, securities, and consumer fraud class action cases. An accomplished trial attorney, Brian has litigated high-stakes cases in federal, state, administrative and tax courts throughout the country.
As Manager of the Occupational Licensing Division of the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office, Brian supervised and mentored a highly qualified team of investigators and attorneys, served as general counsel to the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, as well as managed hundreds of impartial workplace investigations for 17 health licensing boards. These impartial investigations often involved allegations of sexual harassment, retaliation, substance abuse, and/or diversion of controlled substances. In the role of Division Manager, Brian conducted and supervised witness interviews, analyzed evidence collected during investigations, authored and edited comprehensive investigative reports, and created training materials for his institutional and professional clients.
Prior to joining ILG, Brian served as an Assistant Colorado Attorney General in the Department of Law’s first-in-the-nation Opioid Unit, where he investigated the marketing, distribution, and sales practices of the nation’s leading opioid manufacturers and distributors. He later litigated disciplinary cases involving allegations of physician misconduct on behalf of the Colorado Medical Board.
Confident, hard-working, and committed to finding the truth, Brian applies his relevant experience, keen business acumen, and superior communication skills to every ILG investigation.
Brian is a graduate of St. John’s University (MN) and William Mitchell College of Law, where he graduated with honors and was a published member of the law review. In his (rare) spare time, Brian enjoys traveling with family, hiking, attending concerts, and rooting for his favorite Colorado and Minnesota sports teams.
